Film: I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958)

Summary: They say that getting married is the end of a man's freedom (total liars), but in the infertile alien's case, it was a matter of survival. And like anyone who's married, it always hurts to get rejected...

History: Hailing from a planet from the Andromeda constellation, these aliens faced certain doom when their sun grew unstable. Before they could evacuate, all of their females perished. It soon became their mission to find potential mates in the galaxy and save their kind. Unfortunately, they had been breeding for the sake of it, and were completely unprepared when the race they chose (us humans, of course) required emotion to give themselves to them. Seeing no alternative, they found some handsome husbands to be, and copied their physical appearances so that they could breed without anyone knowing. It's probably another communism metaphor.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: It isn't long before the alien's secret is revealed, and soon all of the men who aren't duplicates raid the landing site. When the bullets prove useless, their hounds finish the job by mauling the aliens to death. Their mission a dismal failure, the surviving aliens depart for other worlds, frustrated with how close they came to understanding emotions.

Powers/Abilities: The aliens can absorb bullets for one thing. They are also equipped with ray guns and tech that allows them to shapeshift into handsome men.

Weakness: If the tube-like parts attached to their heads are damaged in any way, the aliens cease functioning.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-Although their physical appearance is rather grotesque, it's hard not to feel bad for their predicament. If only we were more forgiving, then they might have integrated with our society quite well.

Trivia: -Allegedly, one of the scriptwriters was resistant to any changes to the early draft of this film. Don't fix what isn't broken, they say.

-Yup, it's a communism metaphor. And a "marriage will ruin one partner" one too, a la "Attack of the 50 ft. Woman". Sigh......
